IMMO BLOCK 12V adapter
The IMMO BLOCK battery is intended to make IMMO BLOCK easy to install and remove, but owners often forget that it needs to be replaced every two years. To eliminate this hassle, you can power the IMMO BLOCK directly from the car, removing the need for a battery and any worries about forgetting to replace it. Replace the IMMO BLOCK battery with this adapter to power it from the car:
PARTS
Parts below available from Digikey.com or as a kit in store. (Includes wire).
Assembly
Soldering Components:
- Solder R and D to the connector as shown. Note that the band on the diode indicates that D should be oriented “up” in the photo.
Wire Attachment:
- Cut the wire a foot longer than necessary to reach the clock module. The extra length will make it easier to remove IMMO BLOCK for servicing.
- Attach the wire to the resistor and protect the connection with shrink tubing.
Routing the Wire:
- Route the wire through one of the two holes in the end of the battery holder.
- Most 20 and 22 AWG wires will fit through the hole. For larger wires, drill a hole in the cover at the opposite end.
Installation Tips:
- Loop the red wire around the end of the battery holder to prevent pulling on the resistor during installation.
- Optionally, add an in-line connector to simplify IMMO BLOCK removal/replacement.
Slide IMMO BLOCK cover back on.
complete installation
Remove Clock:
- Temporarily remove fuse #12.
- Gently pop out the clock module.
IMMO BLOCK Installation:
- Plug IMMO BLOCK with the installed adapter back into the gong relay socket.
- Route the red wire behind the dashboard and out through the clock hole.
Power Connection:
- Unwrap a couple of inches of protective tape from the clock wire bundle.
- Attach the red IMMO BLOCK wire to the red clock wire using a T-splice (J2). (The wire can be soldered to the clock wire if preferred)
- Ensure that the IMMO BLOCK red wire is fully inserted into the splice.
- Use slip-joint pliers to crimp the splice closed.
- Check the connection by gently tugging on the wire.
- Reinstall the protective tape.
Fuse Replacement and Initialization:
- Re-install fuse #12.
- Wait a few minutes for IMMO BLOCK to initialize.
- LOCK and UNLOCK with your FOB.
IMMO BLOCK will remain operational as long as the car battery is connected.
